CPHT Walking Festival 2009

Inaugural Walking Festival

On March 14-16, 2009, the TVRCN working in partnership with Bord Failte, Mayo County Council, LEADER, RSS, and other agencies launched the inaugural walking festival associated with the Cr. Patrick Heritage Trail.  The three day walking festival begin in Balla, stopped in Killawalla (end of day 1), stopped again in Aughagower (end of day 2), and concluded at the base of Cr. Patrick (day 3). The festival had 210 walkers over the three days, with the majority of walkers (80%) coming from County Mayo. 

Pauline McDermott of Mayo V.E.C. conducted the evaluation which outlined a number of recommendations, including turning the Festival into an annual event and holding local festivals throughout the year.
